A plain-English working draft of how HeatRoute operates. It should be checked by a qualified adviser before wider public launch.
What HeatRoute does
HeatRoute introduces customers to heating and gas engineers. HeatRoute does not carry out the work itself. The contract for the work is between the customer and the engineer.
Using the service
Give accurate details when you request a job. Do not submit requests on someone else’s behalf without their agreement, and do not use the service to collect other people’s information.
Engineers
Engineers must hold the registrations and qualifications the work legally requires and keep them current. HeatRoute reviews the evidence supplied, but customers should still check registration on the Gas Safe Register.
Fees and invoices
Where a HeatRoute fee applies it is shown in the job and invoice records. Online card payment is not currently switched on.
Safety
If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 before using HeatRoute.
Accounts and suspension
HeatRoute may suspend or remove an account that misuses the service, supplies false information or puts customers at risk.
